A man has been arrested after a boy, 10, was allegedly lured into a car with an offer of a free kitten.
The boy got into the vehicle – believed to be a red Toyota – at around 2.45pm on Tuesday in Berryfield Road, Aylesbury.
He was initially approached by the suspect and asked if he wanted a free kitten, Thames Valley Police said.
The force added the victim’s brother saw him get into the car and followed it to the Meadowcroft Community Centre car park.
The boy was let out at this point.
A 22-year-old man from Birmingham has been arrested in connection with the incident and is currently in custody.
Investigating officer Detective Constable Rob Mogridge, based at Aylesbury police station, said: “We are appealing for witnesses or anyone who has any information about what happened to please come forward.
“We believe this was a busy area around the time this happened and that there is a good chance that someone saw what happened.
“We would also like to reassure the local community that an arrest has been made and we are conducting a thorough investigation into what happened.”
