Boyfriend doesn’t support rookie drag queen’s hobby

Welcome to the Love Hotline! Drag queens Jujubee and Thorgy Thor are answering your burning questions about navigating the world of dating. Whether it be over video chat or good old-fashioned letters, your two favorite queens have got you covered with their entertaining “expert” advice!

When Ian realized his boyfriend didn’t approve of his newfound drag queen persona, he called up professional drag queens Jujubee and Thorgy Thor to get their insight into how to handle an unsupportive boyfriend.

“I’m a baby drag queen in Brooklyn,” Ian says. “My current boyfriend is not being so supportive. He loves drag, but just not for me.”

“Does he make you happy?” Jujubee asks.

“Very much so,” Ian replies. “Usually.”

“How long have you guys been together?” Thorgy asks.

When Ian says it’s been seven months, Thorgy says, “Oh, so it’s kind of a new relationship.”

Thorgy invites Ian over to play dress up, while Jujubee jokingly calls dibs on officiating Thorgy and Ian’s wedding. Ian just has to keep in mind that it’s a new relationship and that his boyfriend could come around to Ian’s interest in drag, in time.

The first anonymous question Jujubee and Thorgy receive this week has to do with confidence while sexting. Thorgy recommends taking photos you feel so good about, that if they’re brought up in a future job interview, you don’t feel ashamed to say, “Yes that’s me.” The next submission is about whether you have to be upfront if you’ve gone on two dates with someone and just aren’t feeling it. Do you owe them an explanation that early on?
