BP shuts Whiting refinery FCC for work -sources
HOUSTON, Sept 10 (Reuters) - A gasoline-producing fluidic catalytic cracking unit was shut down at BP Plc (LSE: BP.L - news) 's 400,000 barrel-per-day (bpd) Whiting, Indiana, refinery on Tuesday after the unit malfunctioned, according to sources familiar with operations at the refinery.
Energy industry intelligence service Genscape said the 84,500 bpd cat cracker unit was shut on Tuesday morning. One of the sources said the unit usually runs at about 63,000 bpd.
BP hopes to return the FCC (Madrid: FCC.MC - news) to production later this week, a source said. The refinery has another FCC, which continues to operate. (Reporting by Erwin Seba)
