BP Whiting refinery FCCU back in production -sources

HOUSTON, Sept 16 (Reuters) - A gasoline-producing fluidic catalytic cracking unit was back in normal production on Monday at BP Plc (LSE: BP.L - news) 's 400,000 barrel per day (bpd) Whiting, Indiana, refinery, according to sources familiar with operations at the refinery.

The FCCU, an alkylation unit and a reformer were shut on Sept. 10 due to a malfunction. The alky unit returned on Wednesday and the FCC (Madrid: FCC.MC - news) restarted late on Thursday, the sources said.

Energy industry intelligence service Genscape said the 84,500 bpd FCCU restarted on Friday. There are two FCCUs at the refinery. The other FCC remained in operation while the first FCC was shut. (Reporting by Erwin Seba; Editing by Carol Bishopric)
