BP Whiting refinery restarting hydrotreater -sources
HOUSTON, July 24 (Reuters) - BP Plc was restarting a 24,300 barrel per day (bpd) hydrotreating unit on Friday at the company's 413,500 bpd Whiting, Indiana, refinery, said sources familiar with plant operations.
The unit, which uses hydrogen to remove sulfur dioxide from motor fuels in compliance with U.S. environmental rules, was shut on Tuesday night by a malfunction.
Refinery monitoring service Genscape said the unit returned to normal operation early on Friday, but the sources said the unit was in the process of returning to normal production on Friday. (Reporting by Erwin Seba; Editing by Bernard Orr)
