March 4 (Reuters) - The 65,000 barrel per day (bpd) gasoline-producing fluidic catalytic cracking unit was operating normally on Wednesday at BP Plc's 413,500 bpd Whiting, Indiana, refinery after returning to production overnight, said sources familiar with plant operations.
The 65,000 bpd FCCU malfunctioned on Tuesday night, but was returned to normal operation, the sources said. Energy industry intelligence service Genscape said higher than normal flaring was seen on Wednesday morning from the a flare associated with the FCCU.
The 65,000 bpd FCCU is the smaller of two at the refinery. The 110,000 bpd FCCU remained in operation overnight, the sources said. (Reporting by Erwin Seba)
