Brands making waves in sustainable beauty

It’s no secret that the beauty industry has its fair share of issues when it comes to problems with plastics, unnecessary packaging, and unsustainable ingredients.

There’s still a considerable amount of work to be done but there are some companies who are working towards creating a future with less of an impact on our wonderful planet and we are here to support them – LOUD and proud.

Whether you’re new to sustainably-minded beauty brands or unsure of where to start, we’ve rounded up some of our absolute favourites…

Love Beauty & Planet

You don’t have to have endless cash to do your bit to protect the Earth. This affordably priced line can be found at your local drugstore or cosmetics counter. The packaging is 100 per cent recyclable. How to tell? Look closely and you’ll notice that each bottle is a little cloudy or discoloured from the recycling process. The minds behind this brand put careful thought into their formulation ingredients and also collaborate with various social partnerships. Want to find out more? REN Clean Skincare

The team at this seasoned sustainability brand started making serious changes to their ways of working long before the “green beauty” movement. The motto of ‘Clean to Skin, Kind to Planet’ is all-encompassing and they put their money where their mouth is with £1 of each new Summer Limited Edition Daily AHA Tonic sold donated to the environmental charity Planet Patrol. The ultimate refreshing summer glow with none of the guilt. Looking for another O.G sustainability brand to support? Look no further than LUSH.

BYBI Skincare

The incredibly millennial-looking skincare brand found its way to fame through social media. BYBI proves that it’s possible to have beautiful-looking, “shelfie”-inducing products (and the results to match) without compromising commitment to the environment. The founders are entirely committed to environmental causes and pledged to have their entire product offering in glass or bioplastic tubes and sent in grass paper boxes from the word go. None of this adapting bad systems later down the line. They’ve saved 4.8 tonnes of CO2 emissions already and that number is climbing.
