Britain to invest $218 million in low-carbon research, innovation

OSLO, June 14 (Reuters) -

* Britain's Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy (BEIS) expects to invest around 162 million pounds ($217.71 million) in research and innovation to reduce industry carbon emissions, including carbon capture, use and storage

* As part of this commitment, BEIS expects to invest around 100 million pounds in low carbon industrial innovation to reduce the risks and costs of accelerating the roll-out

* Says low-carbon technologies will enable British industry to remain competitive

* Part of the investment will be 20 million pounds for a Hydrogen Supply programme that aims to accelerate the development of a low-carbon bulk hydrogen supply solutions for industry, BEIS said ($1 = 0.7441 pounds) (Reporting by Lefteris Karagiannopoulos, editing by Terje Solsvik)
