This is Britain's best hotel for 2022, according to the AA
The AA has named the best hotels in the UK for 2021, with a luxury hotel in the Lake District and Yorkshire receiving its top accolade.
Gilpin Hotel & Lake House in Windermere and Grantley Hall in Ripon were awarded the maximum five Red Stars.
Located in a secluded setting, the Gilpin is home to the Michelin-starred HRiSHi restaurant and offers a place to stay in its main house and lake house.
Meanwhile, Grantley Hall is a Grade II listed mansion hidden in the Yorkshire Dales, with its own English Heritage-listed Japanese garden, 47 exquisite rooms and suites and plenty of history - it's hosted Queen Mary among other high-profile guests.

Red Stars are the AA's top accolade for hotels, regardless of their size or type of operation. Hotels that are awarded Red Stars offer high quality throughout, including hospitality and service.
Elsewhere in the UK, there were winners in the Midlands, the East of England and the South.
Four Red Stars were given to the stunning Fischer’s Baslow Hall in Derbyshire, which sits at end of a chestnut tree-lined drive on the edge of the Chatsworth Estate. The Blakeney Hotel in Norfolk, which affords superb views across the estuary and salt marshes to Blakeney Point, also received four Red Stars.
Another four Red Stars winner was The Queensberry Hotel in Bath, a charming family-run hotel that consists of four delightful townhouses and sits on a quiet residential street near the city centre.
New hotel THE PIG at Harlyn Bay in Padstow, Cornwall received three Red Stars in the AA's prestigious awards.
