These are Britain's favourite property presenters
With Location, Location, Location previously crowned the UK's all-time favourite property TV show, it's no surprise that Britain really is a nation of property and DIY lovers. Now, Britain's favourite property presenter has been named and the much-loved Escape to the Chateau's Dick Strawbridge has taken the top spot.
The research, from homebuilder Miller Homes, analysed the number of monthly Google searches for each UK property presenter, their TV show, and their show's average IMDB rating. These stats were then combined together to create an overall index score to reveal who the nation's favourite home-related TV stars are.
Escape to the Chateau follows Dick and Angel Strawbridge as they restore their beautiful 19th century Château in Martigné-sur-Mayenne, France, to its former glory. Dick, who started his career in television on the first series of Scrapheap Challenge, took the top spot, earning the title of the most popular property presenter in Britain.
'We're a nation of interior design fans and many have been using the time over lockdown to declutter and create beautiful spaces to live and work,' says Anne Marie Britton, Group Sales & Marketing Director at Miller Homes. 'With such a wide variety of programmes available, whether you're looking to tidy up, move out or makeover your home, TV shows can be a great source of inspiration and interior ideas.'
Who else made the list?
The top five includes Angela Scanlon of Your Home Made Perfect. The Irish presenter fronts the innovative BBC makeover show which uses virtual reality to allow homeowners to see their reimagined home before it's transformed.
Also ranking highly is Grand Designs' Kevin McCloud and Laura Hamilton from A Place in the Sun, who are third and fourth place respectively.
Just breaking into the top five is DIY SOS presenter, Nick Knowles. The popular BBC property show, alongside DIY SOS: The Big Build, is a powerful example of what really makes a house a home. Thanks to the kind generosity of the local community, tradespeople and suppliers, Nick and his team transform the homes of deserving families, in typically emotional and heart-warming scenes.
The eighth spot goes to Loose Women presenter Stacey Solomon, who will soon be presenting a new BBC show called Sort Your Life Out, (she filmed a pilot in 2020) where she'll take six families on a week-long mission to declutter their home and give them a budget-friendly makeover.
