British Gas owner to support vulnerable customers with $12.3 million pay package

A British Gas sign is seen outside its offices in Staines in southern England

(Reuters) - British Gas owner Centrica said on Wednesday it would support vulnerable pre-payment customers with an overall 10 million pound ($12.3 million) payment package, as UK consumers face sky-high energy bills amid a cost-of-living crunch.

Centrica said the support measure includes non-repayable credit up to 250 pounds on prepayment metres, and British Gas will identify the beneficiaries with an aim to target the most needy on priority.
