British homewares retailer Dunelm's chief steps down

Aug 30 (Reuters) - British homewares retailer Dunelm Group (LSE: DNLM.L - news) Plc said its Chief Executive John Browett would be stepping down for personal reasons, with immediate effect.

"Dunelm has made good progress over the last two years during John's tenure, however the next phase of growth requires different leadership," the company said in a statement.

Dunelm, which sells cushions, bedding and kitchen equipment, said it would immediately start looking for a new CEO, with Chairman Andy Harrison providing interim executive leadership.

The company also said trading in the first two months of the new financial year had started positively, with an "encouraging" like-for-like sales performance. (Reporting by Noor Zainab Hussain in Bengaluru, editing by Louise Heavens)
