Netflix is taking Britney Spears fans on a road trip back to 2002!

On Monday, the streaming service announced that it's bringing the movie Crossroads, which marked Spears' first-ever starring role on the big screen, to the streaming service beginning Thursday, Feb. 15.

"The first movie to ever star the one and only Britney Spears has never been available on streaming... but that's about to change!" Netflix shared on multiple social media platforms. "We're thrilled to announce that Crossroads will finally be available on Netflix — GLOBALLY — starting February 15."

Crossroads, directed by Tamra Davis, starred Spears in her early 20s alongside Zoe Saldaña and Taryn Manning. Shonda Rhimes wrote the movie's screenplay, which follows high school graduates Lucy (Spears), Kit (Saldaña) and Mimi (Manning) as they revisit their childhood friendship and set out on a cross-country road trip following graduation.

"With barely a plan, practically no money but plenty of dreams, the girls catch a lift with Mimi's handsome friend Ben (Anson Mount) in his convertible," the movie's official synopsis reads. "Along the way they not only gather experiences that will change their lives, but they also discover how important it is to hold onto their hearts' desires."

Crossroads also starred Kim Cattrall and Dan Aykroyd as Spears' parents, as well as Jamie Lynn Spears as a younger version of Britney's character Lucy. Justin Long also appears as one of the group's classmates.

Spears, now 42, wrote about her experience filming the movie in her 2023 memoir The Woman in Me. In an excerpt shared with PEOPLE in October, she wrote that "the experience wasn't easy for me."

"I think I started Method acting — only I didn’t know how to break out of my character. I really became this other person. Some people do Method acting, but they’re usually aware of the fact that they’re doing it," she wrote in the book. "But I didn’t have any separation at all."

"I ended up walking differently, carrying myself differently, talking differently," she added in the book. "I was someone else for months while I filmed Crossroads. Still to this day, I bet the girls I shot that movie with think, She’s a little…quirky. If they thought that, they were right."

Spears identified Crossroads in her book as "pretty much the beginning and end of my acting career." She has rarely appeared in onscreen roles outside of music videos since, save for appearances as herself on the series Jane the Virgin and in the 2019 movie Corporate Animals.

Crossroads previously returned to movie theaters back in October for a temporary two-night run to coincide with the release of Spears' memoir.
