Elway and Ellis experienced some symptoms before testing positive. Ellis didn’t feel well on Sunday and didn’t come to the facility, working from home on Monday as well. Elway experienced “minor symptoms” on Monday and immediately left the team’s training facility. Both received their positive results Tuesday morning.
The Broncos don’t believe either Ellis or Elway contracted COVID-19 while inside the team’s facilities, and both had no close contact with players or coaches.
Denver’s facilities, as well as the facilities of every other NFL team, are closed on Tuesday due to Election Day, so if any coaches were going to meet in person to prepare for Sunday’s game, they weren’t going to be able to do it there. Now they won’t be meeting in person at all, and will instead go virtual.
