** U.S.-listed shares of iron ore producers fall as ore prices drop to near lowest level in almost six years

** Vale SA down 4.4 pct at $6.81, Rio Tinto Ltd (Xetra: 855018 - news) down 2.2 pct at $45.98, BHP Billiton Ltd down 1.6 pct at $51.15

** Slowing economic growth in China, which buys about two-thirds of the world's iron ore, and a global glut are weighing on iron ore prices

** Iron ore for immediate delivery to China's Tianjin port (Shanghai: 600717.SS - news) fell 0.8 pct to $62.30 a tonne on Tuesday, based on data compiled by the Steel Index.

** Benchmark price touched $61.10 in early February, lowest since May 2009; price has fallen 13 pct so far this year
