BUZZ-Lufthansa: Vienna to be first Eurowings base outside of Germany

** Lufthansa says Vienna will be the first base outside of Germany for the Eurowings unit it is expanding into a low-cost carrier

** The airline said two A320s with the new Eurowings livery will be based in Vienna from autumn 2015 and will be staffed with crew from Austrian Airlines

** The decision was at the request of Austrian Airlines and done in close coordination with the carrier, Lufthansa said on Wednesday

** Lufthansa is expanding Eurowings, previously a small regional carrier, to cover more point-to-point destinations within Europe as it bids to win back market share from low-cost carriers such as Ryanair and easyJet

** The airline also plans to use the Eurowings brand for a foray into low-cost long-haul

** Lufthansa shares last up 0.9 pct
