The Call the Midwife official Instagram account has revealed that a book celebrating the 10th anniversary of the show is to be released in November! The page made the announcement in the caption of some new behind-the-scenes photos.

Call the Midwife - A Labour of Love: Ten Years of Love, Life and Laughter is written by founding member of the cast Stephen McGann and is described in the announcement as: "The up-close and personal story of Call the Midwife, as told by the cast and crew who made it into the iconic drama it is today. It’s packed with behind-the-scenes photographs and exclusive interviews with our team, past and present."

While there's a few months till you can get your hands on a copy, the book is available to pre-order now in hard-copy and as an e-book.

Elaborating on what we can expect from the book, the caption promises; "A Labour of Love is warm, moving and funny – a journey through each one of the ten years of Call the Midwife - with personal reflections, anecdotes and insights from its stars, producers, and technical crew."

Speaking fondly of cast member and actor Stephen McGann, who plays Dr Turner on the show, it continued: "Each year is related with love and affection by our own Dr Turner - a member of our Nonnatun family who was there at the birth, and who watched it grow to become the cherished worldwide success it is today."

Stephen himself said of the book: "Working on Call The Midwife: A Labour of Love has been like opening a much-loved family album; some of the images have made me smile. Some have made me miss those pictured afresh. But all of them have made me cherish the years we shared, and the stories we made together."

How has it been 10 whole years? To think the babies from series one will be gearing up for secondary school soon!

Speaking on behalf of the show, the caption finished: "We’ve been simply overwhelmed by the sheer number of warm interviews given by our our past and present cast. Each one of them has taken time to share unique memories and insights. The love just shines through – and we think you’re going to adore it!"

‘A Labour of Love: Ten Years of Call the Midwife’ will be published in the UK by Weidenfeld & Nicolson on 11 November 2021 in hardback and eBook.
