Call option

A financial contract which gives an investor the right to buy a certain asset at a set price, known as the strike or exercise price, within a specific time period. However, the investor is not obliged to buy; most traders not exercise call options and instead close the position before the contract expires. Investors in call options make money when the asset increases in price. This is the opposite of a put option.
