Callum Turner has revealed that he’s returning as Theseus Scamander in Fantastic Beasts 3 and will begin shooting the Wizarding World sequel very soon.

Turner’s name is currently not listed in the film’s cast list on IMDb, and his character’s involvement in the third Fantastic Beasts has been unconfirmed until now.

Talking to Yahoo about his new film Emma (in cinemas Friday), the 29-year-old actor remained very tightlipped on specific details about his return as Newt Scamander’s older brother in the David Yates-directed film, other than confirming his involvement.

Turner, who plays Frank Churchill in the Jane Austen adaptation, says although he’s due to start shooting in “about six weeks”, he has “no idea” about the extent of his involvement. He told us off camera that he’s yet to even see a script.

Our interview with Turner, who was paired with co-star Mia Goth, took place on 15 January, putting his “six weeks” timeframe firmly into mid-February.

An announcement on JK Rowling’s Wizarding World website in November 2019 confirmed Fantastic Beasts 3 would start shooting in “Spring 2020” with a “cast led by Eddie Redmayne as Newt Scamander, Jude Law as Albus Dumbledore and Johnny Depp as Gellert Grindelwald along with Ezra Miller (Credence/Aurelius Dumbledore), Alison Sudol (Queenie Goldstein), Dan Fogler (Jacob Kowalski) and Katherine Waterston (Tina Goldstein)”.

Jessica Williams, who featured briefly in previous instalment Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, will have an expanded role as Professor Eulalie 'Lally' Hicks.

The third Fantastic Beasts film, which takes place decades before the events of the Harry Potter series, promises to “take us to new continents, exploring wizarding cultures across the globe” and will be set mainly in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
