COVID-19 in Canada: Ontario sees more than 1,400 new COVID-19 cases, Peel exceeds Toronto’s daily case count

More than 1,400 new COVID-19 cases reported in Toronto

Ontario reported 1,426 new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, including 468 new cases in Peel, 384 in Toronto, 180 in York Region, 63 in Durham and 62 in Hamilton.

The province confirmed 15 more COVID-19 death, bringing the total to 3,275.

Ontario completed 36,707 tests in the last 24 hours, with 34,460 test currently under investigation.

There are 424 people with COVID-19 in hospitals around the province, including 88 in intensive care.

A total of 93 long-term care home are reporting a COVID-19 outbreak with 683 confirmed resident cases and 410 staff cases.

Ontario identified 198 new school-related COVID-19 cases, including 116 student cases, 21 staff cases and 61 individuals who have not been identified. Two school are currently closed due to COVID-19 concerns.

Quebec’s COVID-19 cases jump above 1,300

Quebec reported 1,378 new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, including 318 cases in Montreal, 198 in Saguenay – Lac-Saint-Jean, 166 in Lanaudière and 144 in Montérégie.

The province also reported 22 new COVID-19 deaths, including six that occurred in the last 24 hours.

There are currently 573 people in Quebec hospitals with COVID-19, with 84 in intensive care.
