Captain Tom: Piers Morgan, Bear Grylls, Katherine Jenkins and other celebrity fans send get well wishes

Captain Tom Moore’s celebrity fans have sent him get well soon wishes as he battles coronavirus.

The 100-year-old war veteran has been admitted to hospital in Bedford after testing positive for coronavirus, but has plenty of support from famous friends who are thinking of him and wishing him a speedy recovery.

In April 2020, he drew praise from across the world as he completed a charity walk around his garden, raising nearly £40million for NHS charities.

Piers Morgan led tributes to Captain Tom as he posted on Instagram: “Captain Sir Tom Moore is in hospital with covid-19. Sending the great man all my prayers for a speedy recovery.”

Morgan, who had featured Captain Tom on his ITV series Life Stories last year, also tweeted: “Come on, Captain Sir Tom - we’re all rooting for you.”

He prompted a number of other celebrities to get behind the former British Army officer in his fight against the virus.

Bear Grylls offered his virtual support, writing: “Sending prayers.... come on Sir Tom...”

Vicky Pattison also commented: “Wishing him a speedy recovery.”

And cricketer Kevin Pietersen added: “Oh no! Come on great man!!!!”

Katherine Jenkins, who visited Captain Tom last year after his fundraising efforts, wrote: “Oh no. What a lovely man. Sending prayers.”

She also added her own post to Instagram with a photo of their meeting, writing: “Sending a big healing cwtch to this gorgeous gentleman @captainsirtom who’s currently in hospital with COVID.

“You are such an inspiration to so many and MANY millions all around the world will be wishing you better and praying for your recovery.”

Peter Andre also posted on Instagram about Captain Tom’s hospitalisation, writing: “Stay strong Captain @captainsirtom.”

Captain Tom was awarded a knighthood by the Queen for the huge amount of money he raised for the NHS with his sponsored walk.
