Cara Delevingne's hair typically falls on the blonde shade spectrum, veering between bright platinum and rich caramel, but recently she's sported a darker shade – a warm, spicy brunette debuted in October last year that felt very autumnal.
Well if her glossy locks then inspired a seasonal colour change, prepare for her latest look to move your mood forwards into spring.
Transforming back to blonde, the model and actress showcased her chic new look at pal Stella McCartney's Adidas launch party in LA, with her hair crafted into tousled waves by celebrity stylist Ryan Richman. The deep blonde feels reminiscent of her signature style when Delevingne dominated beauty culture a decade ago, but it's richer in tone – and reads expensive.
Her elevated blonde was the work of hairstylist Riawna Capri, who is based at Nine Zero One salon in LA. Her other A-list clients include Emma Roberts and Selena Gomez, and she also gave Delevingne her "terracotta tresses" back in the autumn.
In line with her hair colour, Delevingne tends to slightly adjust the colour of her famed eyebrows for a harmonious finish. While you don’t necessarily have to take your brows lighter in line with your locks – it depends on your preference – heed this advise shared with Bazaar by hair colourist, and blonde specialist, Nicola Clarke, should you want to. “If you do lighten your eyebrows then they should always be done using an ash-toned colour, as brassy brows are a no-no,” she feels. “Also, as a rule of thumb, go no lighter than two shades of your current brow colour.”
Of course, if you're considering a colour transformation to blonde there are plenty of other factors to consider. Ultimately, “the best way to choose the right shade of blonde is simply to talk it through with a professional colourist,” Clarke says. “Bringing photos of blonde hair you like is a great starting point, ”but know that you might have to go with an interpretation of that shade to suit you.
