'What a load of c**p!’: Carrie Symonds trashes rumours she and Boris Johnson are getting rid of dog Dilyn

Carrie Symonds has dismissed reports that she and Boris Johnson are getting rid of their pet dog Dilyn.

The soon-to-be married couple adopted the Jack Russell-cross shortly after arriving in Downing Street last year but claims made in The Times this morning suggested the pair were about to have him “quietly rehomed”.

However, Symonds rejected the story, which claimed Dilyn was “sickly” and defecated around their home.

She tweeted: “What a load of total c**p! There has never been a happier, healthier and more loved dog than our Dilyn. 100% bs.”

Symonds added: “The people behind this story should be ashamed of themselves.”

A twitter account for Bailey Javid, the pet dog owned by former Chancellor Sajid Javid, wrote: "Have spoken to Dilyn and he says the story is barking."

A Number 10 spokesperson said Dilyn is a “much-loved member of the family” and that suggestions he is being rehomed are “totally untrue”.

Dilyn was saved by the Friends of Animals Wales charity after he was born with a misaligned jaw, before he started life at 10 Downing Street.

The prime minister recently revealed that he takes Dilyn for walks in the Downing Street garden first thing in the morning as part of his keep-fit regime.
