Casualty spoilers follow.

Casualty star George Rainsford has dropped some early teasers on this year's series finale episode, which is set to feature his character Ethan Hardy.

The cast and crew are currently filming the high-stakes story, which will set the scene for the show's 35th anniversary in September.

When Digital Spy asked George if there could be romance on the cards for Ethan and Fenisha, he said: "I think so. So much has happened between them and there is clearly an attraction there – we've known that from the start.

"They've been through the wringer and I think there could be some light at the end of the tunnel. There is a lot more to explore between Fenisha and Ethan, their relationship definitely takes a few twists and turns.

"We are filming a massive end of series episode at the moment which is going to be one of those big Casualty ensemble pieces with an event which pulls together lots of the cast. There's big stunts and it's very exciting.

"That will be in the summer and then the 35th anniversary stuff will follow after that."

Ethan has been growing closer to Fenisha in recent weeks, following the birth of their baby son Bodhi.

While Ethan is enjoying his new co-parenting arrangement with Fenisha, an ominous cloud looms in regards to the secret he is keeping from her.

Fenisha doesn't currently know that Ethan has the Huntington's gene, meaning there is a 50% chance that Bodhi does too.

Backing the show's decision to revisit Ethan's biggest story, George said: "I am pleased. The challenge has always been finding a story that is related, but doesn't necessarily mean that Ethan gets the symptoms.

"Once that properly happens, he can't be a doctor and then the character is on his way out. The pregnancy story was something we mentioned ages ago as it forces Ethan to address the secrets of carrying that condition if there is an unplanned pregnancy.

"He thought she was having a termination so never got a chance to tell her. There were also some things I didn't know – I didn't know you had to wait until you were 18 once you had passed a certain point in pregnancy so we are highlighting some very real worries that people who have the condition in their family have been experiencing."

Casualty continues tonight (April 17) at 8.30pm on BBC One.
