The late Chadwick Boseman recorded a number of voice performances for the forthcoming Marvel animated series What If...?, studio boss Kevin Feige has confirmed.

Boseman's King T'Challa, aka Black Panther, featured in the first trailer for the show, revealed among the vast dump of new movie and TV show information from Disney.

Chadwick's performance, as jazz trumpeter Levee Green, is being tipped for the Best Actor Oscar.

Boseman won the gong for Best Actor at the Los Angeles Film Critics Association over the weekend, among the first awards events of the season.

The new series will posit various alternate storylines within the Marvel universe, with Boseman's Black Panther appearing in a storyline which poses what would happen had Peter Quill been taken by T'Challa as a child, rather than by space hustler Yondu.

It will also feature performances from Josh Brolin as Thanos, Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner, Chris Hemsworth's Thor, Karen Gillan's Nebula, Jeff Goldblum's Grandmaster and Tom Hiddleston's Loki.

The series, narrated by Jeffrey Wright, is expected to air on Disney+ in mid-2021.
