Yahoo Finance Chargers gonna Charger: L.A. suffers yet another ridiculous loss when Broncos score on final play
No team has lost in more inexplicable ways than the Los Angeles Chargers the past few years. It’s not even close.
The Chargers were cruising Sunday against the Denver Broncos. They led 24-3 in the first half. But this is the Chargers.
The Broncos stormed back, overcoming a 10-point deficit with less than eight minutes to go, scoring a 1-yard touchdown from Drew Lock to K.J. Hamler after time expired. The extra point gave the Broncos a 31-30 win.
How does this keep happening to the Chargers? They seemed to have the game wrapped up several times, including when there was an incompletion on fourth down with seconds to go, but a questionable pass interference was called. That set up the Broncos at the 1-yard line for one final play, and Lock hit Hamler for the win.
The Chargers have a good quarterback in Justin Herbert, who has been marvelous as a rookie. They have other stars on both sides of the ball. But they’re 2-5, in part because they continue to blow games they seemingly have in the bag. It’s unbelievable. The Chargers lost at Denver last year after a bad pass interference call in the final seconds, too.

The Chargers couldn’t get a stop at the end. The Broncos converted three third downs on their final drive, and a fourth down on the pass interference call in the end zone. Lock looked terrible for the first half, but the Chargers made him look like John Elway in the second half.
The Chargers are predictable, at least. If they can blow a game they seemingly have won, they will.
