Cheapest places to fill up as drivers face petrol station 'postcode lottery'
Fuel prices are rising at their fastest rate in more than three years, according to Petrolprices.com.
Researchers at the website say it is down to the rising cost of global crude oil, fuelled by growing demand and concerns about how political volatility could hit future supply.
The website says it makes finding cheaper ways of filling up all the more vital - but its figures suggest consumers face a postcode lottery in the cost of fuel.
The analysis suggests the cost of fuel can vary by as much as 30p a litre between petrol stations in different parts of the country.
The difference could add up to hundreds of pounds a year, meaning refuelling at petrol stations in the cheapest locations is a sensible bet for any drivers who find themselves nearby.
Recent research by the AA suggests motorway petrol stations cost more than £10 a tank more than average petrol stations, according to the Mirror.
Petrolprices.com also recommends looking at companies with the best deals on fuel, with Sainsbury’s, BP and Morrisons all currently offering discount vouchers.
