Chelsea defender Thiago Silva sends heartfelt message to ‘legend’ Frank Lampard after sacking

Thiago Silva has become the first Chelsea player to break their silence on the sacking of Frank Lampard, with the Brazilian thanking his former boss for everything he did for him at Stamford Bridge.

Silva joined Chelsea on a free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain last summer after Lampard convinced him to move to England at the age of 36.

The Brazilian defender described Lampard as a “legend” and said it feels like they have been working together for a decade.

Lampard was sacked with Chelsea ninth in the Premier League and five points behind fourth-placed Liverpool after owner Roman Abramovich decided to act in a bid to save their hopes of qualifying for the Champions League next season.

Silva is now set to be reunited with his former PSG manager Thomas Tuchel, who has been lined up to take over from Lampard at Stamford Bridge.

Silva tweeted alongside a picture of himself and Lampard: “I would like to thank you for everything you and your committee have done for me since the day I arrived.
