Chelsea player ratings vs Luton: Raheem Sterling channels Eden Hazard while Enzo Fernandez shines again

Raheem Sterling’s all-star display ended a run of eight home games without a win to blow away Luton at Stamford Bridge on Friday night.

The 28-year-old scored a stunning opening goal early on, dribbling through the Luton defence before caressing his finish past Thomas Kaminski.

Sterling’s second calmed Chelsea’s nerves after a shaky period early in the second half, turning in a Malo Gusto cross.

Nicolas Jackson sealed victory with his first Chelsea goal after Sterling turned provider, with new signings Romeo Lavia and Djordje Petrovic watching on from Todd Boehly’s private box.

Nizaar Kinsella was at Stamford Bridge witnessing Pochettino’s first win.

Robert Sanchez - 6

A very quiet evening for Chelsea’s no1. He didn’t make a save until the 60th minute from Ryan Giles.

Malo Gusto - 7

Got two assists with his first being a basic square ball but his second was a good cut-back for Sterling’s second.

Thiago Silva - 7

Looked very solid within the backline.

Axel Disasi - 7

Had a shaky moment in the 27th minute but stabilised to put in a creditable performance bringing his physicality to the table.

Levi Colwill - 7

His best display yet in a Chelsea shirt, characterised by his dangerous long passing.

Conor Gallagher - 6

Enjoyed roaming further forward with Moises Caicedo alongside him.

Enzo Fernandez - 9

Enzo was hugely creative and entertaining. He was also a goal threat playing as a no10 almost scored through free-kicks, long-range shots and from arriving in the box.

Moises Caicedo - 6

Caicedo looked nervous early on and slipped on the ball but showed his class as the game wore on, making his team mates better.

Raheem Sterling - 9

Another wonderful Sterling performance where he slalomed through the defence to score a Hazard-like goal in the 17th minute, before scoring from a cutback in the second half and creating Jackson’s first Chelsea goal.

Ben Chilwell - 5

Chilwell looked uncomfortable playing such an attacking role against a defensive team. He wasted a huge one-on-one opportunity trying to square it to Sterling.

Nicolas Jackson - 7

Jackson looked relieved to tap home his first Chelsea goal in the 75th minute having not threatened beforehand.
