Yahoo Finance Chicago Fire casts Adriyan Rae as new paramedic for season 9 following Annie Ilonzeh's departure
Chicago Fire has recruited a brand new paramedic for season nine following the departure of Annie Ilonzeh's Emily Foster.
The NBC series has cast Vagrant Queen star Adriyan Rae as Gianna Mackey, according to Deadline, with the character becoming a series regular from the off.
Mackey is described as "a lovable troublemaker with a twinkle in her eye", while also being "charming, scrappy, fun, witty and good-natured".

She is also a welcoming and friendly individual, and comes from a working class family who are popular in their community. However, despite treating everyone like family, she is not a pushover, and is quick to defend the defenceless with a tough personality.
The news comes after Foster's departure from Firehouse 51 at the end of season eight, with the character announcing that she wanted to pursue her dream and return to medical school.
However, it may not be all bad news, as Chicago Fire showrunner Derek Haas has hinted that she could return in the future.

Asked if her new career would mean a shake-up in the firehouse, he replied: "That's a 'Wait for season nine' question!"
Well, if Gabby Dawson (Monica Raymund) can come back, we're sure anything is possible.
Alongside the news that Rae is joining the team, it was recently announced that star Daniel Kyri has been upped to regular as Darren Ritter for Chicago Fire season nine.
Chicago Fire airs on NBC in the US and on Sky Witness, Universal and 5USA in the UK.
