Twitter in awe of Chiefs' 24-point first-half comeback vs. Texans

Thousands upon thousands of football teams have fallen behind by 24 points or more. A very small amount of NFL teams over the years have managed to erase such a large deficit.

No one had ever done it in a single half of football. Until Patrick Mahomes woke up in the second quarter of the Kansas City Chiefs’ game against the Houston Texans on Sunday.

The Chiefs’ stunning comeback

For an hour, it looked like we were watching a rerun of the Tennessee Titans’ shocking upset of the Baltimore Ravens on Saturday. The Texans jumped on the Chiefs for an early 21-0 lead, and had a shot at 28-0.

Texans coach Bill O’Brien decided he’d rather take a field goal than go for it on 4th-and-1 on the Chiefs’ 13. The Chiefs rewarded that bit of charity with four straight touchdown drives to end the first half, then three more to open the second half.

As you can imagine, the world of NFL Twitter was in disbelief as Mahomes did his thing.

One fan took his superstition to the next level while the Chiefs were down ... and it just might have worked:
