Yahoo Finance Chloé creative director Natacha Ramsay-Levi steps down after almost four years
Natacha Ramsay-Levi has announced that she is stepping down from Chloé after almost four years at the helm of the French label.
The 40-year-old was famed for her empowering and bold designs at the esteemed fashion house, which she joined in 2017 after departing her role at Louis Vuitton.
Ramsay-Levi shared the news on Instagram, writing in a statement: “I have had the great privilege, with the support of Chloé’s teams, to express my own creativity, while refocusing the Maison on Gaby Aghion’s [the founder of Chloé] commitment to intellectual freedom and to fundamental values that unite all of us.
"I want to thank Chloé for this opportunity. I am equally thankful for their support in my decision to leave my position.”
While Ramsay-Levi did not elaborate as to why she had decided to quit her role as creative director, she did imply that the pandemic had played a part.
“Over the last months of health, social and economic turmoil, I have thought about the changes I want to see in our industry and how to better align them with my own creative, intellectual, and emotional values," she added in her statement.
"It is this reflection that makes me consider my future differently and desire to pursue new opportunities.”
Riccardo Bellini, CEO at Chloé, also issued a statement thanking Ramsay-Levi for her work.
“Natacha has made a great contribution to Chloé, bringing at its center the intelligence and sense of mission that were defined by our founder.
"She is an important member of that proud tradition of women who have designed at Chloé. Her creative leadership and her vision have written a powerful and meaningful chapter in our story.”
Before joining Chloé, Ramsay-Levi worked closely with Louis Vuitton’s Nicolas Ghesquière.
The duo worked together at Balenciaga for more than 10 years before Ghesquière was snapped up by Louis Vuitton, where Ramsay-Levi followed, taking up the role of design director.
When she joined Chloé, Ramsay-Levi succeeded Clare Waight Keller, who went on to take the reins at Givenchy, a role that would see her design the wedding dress of the Duchess of Sussex.
Chloé has said it will appoint a new creative director to replace Ramsay-Levi “in due course”.
