Move over pasta chips! Chocolate “chips” are the latest experimental food trend that’s taking over TikTok.
TikToker Areesa (@areesa) is a self-described “dessert lover and chocoholic” who recently shared a recipe video that begs the question: Are chocolate “chips” the new pasta chips?
To make the chocolate “chips,” Areesa spreads an even layer of melted chocolate onto an acetate baking sheet. Once the chocolate has hardened, she uses a ruler to cut it into even triangles.
Next, she pops the chocolate pieces off the baking sheet and places them on a serving plate before garnishing them with grated white chocolate, or, as Areesa playfully jokes, “parmesan cheese.”
Finally, she serves the chips with a dip made from ganache, whipped cream and a sprinkling of cocoa powder.
Too sweet, or just sweet enough?
Viewers took to the comments section to share their opinions on this pasta chip counterpart, and the consensus was divided.
“Yummy! I want to try it, and the kids will definitely like it,” mentioned one user.
“That looks good, yes, please,” raved one chocolate lover.
“That looks good but way too sweet,” observed one viewer. Areesa responded, assuring them that the dark chocolate in the ganache helps offset any sweetness overload.
For folks who aren’t chocolate lovers, the decision was clear.
“Nah, I don’t like chocolate. [I] prefer the pasta ones,” one viewer confessed.
“That sounds horrible, respectfully,” shared one brutally honest critic.
Whether or not this chocolate “chip” recipe holds up to the pasta chip hype, it’s certainly an interesting and unique dessert that’s bound to show up on your TikTok feed soon.
