Chris Harrison Explains His Sudden Exit From 'The Bachelorette'

Chris Harrison Explains His Sudden Exit From 'The Bachelorette'

From Good Housekeeping

  • Chis Harrison left The Bachelorette set during last night's episode.

  • Chris was taking his son to college — but there was a ton of BTS drama about his quarantine.

There was a slight PLOT TWIST last night on our ol' friend The Bachelorette: Chris Harrison randomly left the competition. If you're someone who's been paying attention to Bachelor Nation drama all summer, you probably knew this moment was coming — but last night was the first time we heard Chris explain it himself. Our dude was simply taking his son to college!

"Normally, this is where I drop off the date card. The reason I don't have your date card is a bit of a personal story. I'm going to step away for a few days, and I'm going to take my son to college," Chris told Tayshia's contestants. "But I'm not going to leave you guys empty-handed. I brought in a little help for this week. She's a very, very dear friend to Tayshia, and she's also one of the biggest success stories in the history of 'The Bachelorette.' So, I'd love to introduce you guys to JoJo."

Looks like Chris' break from filming went pretty smoothly according to The Bachelorette, but IRL? Not so much. There was a bunch of news around Chris' trip due to the expectation that he'd need to quarantine after returning — which would mean he could potentially be gone for the entire rest of the season.

An Us Weekly source made it clear that Chris was pissed at the time, saying he "was not happy they were going to make him quarantine in Palm Springs for two weeks without working. He insisted he simply dropped his son off in his dorm room and left, social distancing the entire time.”

Even Reality Steve chimed in:

The show ended up discussing "different options" and decided to reconsider the situation after Chris got tested for COVID-19. He was later seen back on set, so guess it all worked out!
