Christine McGuinness has opened up once more about her love life, sharing thoughts about moving on with someone new following her split from her ex-husband, Top Gear co-host Paddy McGuinness.

The former couple, who have three children together, confirmed their 11-year marriage had come to an end with a joint statement in July 2022.

While Christine has suggested she's open to considering romance in her life, The Real Housewives of Cheshire star also added that she's keen to avoid the dating scene as she couldn't "think of anything worse", and would prefer to form a connection with someone who she's known for a little while as a friend first.

Reflecting on how she previously grew a romantic bond with Paddy over time, Christine told The Mirror that their relationship was a "slow burner" that developed from an initial friendship.

"I think once you're comfortable with someone, then you can do your dinner dates – I need it to happen the other way round," she explained.

"Ideally, I would have to know someone first before I started dating, like me and Patrick were friends first and then it turns romantic."

"I was talking about this with a friend, actual dating I can't think of anything worse," she added of going on a date with someone who you don't already know.

"I think for an autistic person it is so much worse because the dating scene from what I've heard, you have to go into a restaurant, you're meeting someone you don't know, you're in a place that you might not have been to before."

Christine added that as she doesn't drink, the idea of going to meet someone at a bar for a date doesn't appeal to her.

"I never really dated so going on dates for me is not something I want to do," she remarked. "I absolutely do not want to go on a date."

However, Christine insisted she's got "zero time" to look for love at the moment and aims to prioritise her kids instead.

"Anytime I've got needs to be for me, I just want to focus on work and on my children," she said. "You can never say never, but dating doesn't appeal to me from what I've heard."

Christine also explained that she would "would hate to have to pretend or act normal for someone new", as she's in a place right now where she's "just trying to get to know" herself.
