Former X Factor star Christopher Maloney has been hospitalised with a mystery illness.

The 42-year-old singer - who was finalist on The X Factor 2012 and appeared on Celebrity Big Brother in 2016 - has been in hospital for a week and is unhopeful of being discharged soon.

Maloney posted on Twitter a picture of the foot of his bed in a hospital ward and wrote: “In the voice of Marcus Bentley.... "Day 7 In The Big Hospital Bed" & no sign of me getting out soon.”

On January 3rd Maloney shared a picture of himself in a bed apparently in a hosipital corridor captioned: “Good morning #Tweethearts so another day spent in hospital.”

Shortly before he was admitted to hospital Maloney had completed a run in pantomime starring as Prince Charming in Cinderella in Bradford.

And on December 31st he performed at Grosvenor Bolton Casino.

Fans have sent the singer messages of concern and well wishes but he has not revealed the reason for needing medical treatment.

A spokesperson for Maloney declined to comment.

In 2018 the singer appeared on Loose Women to discuss spending more than £100,000 on cosmetic surgery because he was so unhappy with his looks.

He said: “I had surgery about four weeks ago. I had a hair transplant, upper-eyelid surgery, another nose job, teeth done and some Botox.”

In 2017 Maloney split from his fiance, Gary Doran, after eight years together. Former EastEnders star, and Christopher’s close friend, Danniella Westbrook, famously helped the star propose to Doran back in 2015.
