Cindy Crawford: 'Kaia inspired my haircare line'

Cindy Crawford: 'Kaia inspired my haircare line'

Cindy Crawford's daughter Kaia Gerber's healthy hair was the "impetus" for her new haircare range.

The Meaningful Beauty co-founder revealed to People that she felt inspired to expand on her skincare line and explore the world of hair products after noticing how nourished her model daughter's locks were compared to her own.

"It made me realise, wow! That was the impetus," Cindy said as she explained Kaia's hair motivated her to seek a solution. "A lot of women don't really start taking care of their skin until they start noticing those signs of ageing. I think that was the same for hair for me."

Cindy first began noticing "drastic changes" and suffered considerable hair loss after the birth of her son Presley, who is now 21, and Kaia, 19.

"You kind of think it's going to come back and you wait for it to come back - but it didn't," she recalled.

The 55-year-old has enjoyed working on the new products, which include a Strengthening Shampoo, Smooth & Shiny Conditioner and Styling and Protecting Spray, revealing the Restorative Scalp Treatment is her favourite.

Despite the stresses of launching a haircare line during the Covid-19 pandemic, Cindy said the challenges of the past year have taught her a valuable lesson - she's no longer afraid of what the future holds for her.

"One of the big benefits for me was just slowing down and realising I'm okay," she said. "I feel like I've been so busy for the last 30 years that I thought, 'Oh my God, what am I going to do with myself?' (Now) If I retire - not that I'm planning on it - but it doesn't scare me anymore. I know I am okay with a less full schedule and that's liberating to know that."
