KPMG

David Brown has been appointed a non-life actuarial partner in KPMG’s insurance practice. With almost 20 years’ actuarial experience, he joins from Direct Line Group, and will advise clients in the retail general insurance sector. Brown is also a fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries.

BNP Paribas Investment Partners

Cynthia Sweeney Barnes has been appointed head of global segments, and Europe, Middle East and Africa, at BNP Paribas Investment Partners. She has over 25 years’ experience in asset management, and has previously held roles at Aetna, JP Morgan Chase, and HSBC Global Asset Management, where she led sales activity covering corporates and official institutions.

Saffery Champness

The accountancy firm has announced the appointment of Liz Hazell as a partner, effective October. She will join from PwC, where she is head of charities. Hazell has advised the not-for-profit sector for more than 20 years.

Wedlake Bell

The law firm has announced the appointment of Helen Garthwaite as a partner in its construction team. She was previously a partner at Taylor Wessing, and specialises in construction, development and finance work. Garthwaite is also a director and member of the management board of the British Council of Offices.

Towers Watson

The professional services firm has announced that John Edwards will rejoin as a director in its global financial services team. Based in the UK, he was most recently head of reward at RBS. Edwards previously worked at Towers Watson between 2007 and 2010 as a senior consultant in its executive compensation practice.

Hailsham Chambers

Professional negligence specialist Nicola Rushton has joined Hailsham Chambers from Five Paper. She has almost 20 years’ experience advising in the fields of both professional negligence and commercial litigation.

CA Technologies

The IT management solutions firm has appointed Melinda Lee Ferguson as senior vice president, area sales and general manager, UK and Ireland. She relocates from New York.
