Wrestling legend Sting is preparing to have his first match in AEW at Revolution on Sunday (March 7), teaming with Darby Allin against Brian Cage and Ricky Starks.

When Sting first appeared in AEW in December, many fans wondered if he'd be able to go the distance in a match, but according to EVP Cody Rhodes, he absolutely can.

Speaking to Digital Spy ahead of Revolution, Cody said: "I think with Sting right now, the question is, can Sting have a regular wrestling match?

"Can he do it, can he go bell-to-bell in a live setting? I would bet he absolutely can. There's a lot left."

In recent weeks, fans have seen Sting get physical and he has more than impressed with his abilities.

"When he hit Ricky Starks with the bat, his frenetic movement, his dynamic motion is still there, and that's dangerous," Cody continued.

"People forget, Sting is a big guy, he's from a generation where he was more of a light heavyweight, but now he's definitely a full-blown heavyweight and a little bit taller than some of our roster."

Cody's comments echo those of Chris Jericho, who told Digital Spy earlier this week that Sting's "got a lot left in the tank".

Cody also spoke about being a Sting fan growing up and what it means to him now to be working with one of his heroes.

"Nobody was more of a little Stinger than me," Cody said. "I would go to the shows and the merchandise stands had the [temporary tattoos] that you would put on your face and my mom would wet the tatt and then I'd be so excited, I'd usually take it off too early and have real NWO bush-league style Sting paint on my face. But gosh I'm such a fan!

"I want to make sure he's happy. I want to make sure he has a great place to be and I think he's in it for the long haul with AEW and our family here."
