Coleen Rooney sees no reason for 'further public debate' on Rebekah Vardy row

Coleen Rooney has refused to “engage in further public debate” after Rebekah Vardy gave a tearful interview saying their spat had affected her health.

The pair have been at odds since last year when Rooney – wife of footballer Wayne Rooney – posted a message on Twitter accusing her fellow “WAG” of leaking stories about her to the press.

Appearing on Loose Women this week, Vardy said she had suffered “severe anxiety attacks” as a result of the ‘Wagatha Christie’ debacle.

After explaining that she couldn't "say too much" as she is currently in a "legal battle" with Rooney, she said: “The trolling was the worst part for me.

“I have been trolled before and I do get it all the time, but it escalated off the back of this.”

Vardy, who vehemently denies the allegations, went on: “I ended up with severe anxiety attacks. I ended up in hospital three times.

“I ended up with kidney stones.”

Afterwards, a statement was issued on Rooney’s behalf.

It said: “Coleen has nothing to add to what she has already said.

“She remains confident in the legal process and sees no reason to take the numerous opportunities that have been offered to engage in further public debate in this matter.”

The dispute started in October, when 33-year-old Rooney posted a message on social media saying she had spent months trying to work out who was sharing stories about her.

She explained that she had done some detective work, blocking everyone from her private Instagram account except Vardy, to see who it was.

Vardy – wife of footballer Jamie Vardy - later denied the allegations and insisted she did not speak to the press about Rooney.

The 37-year-old also said she was not the only person who has access to her Instagram account.

“Over the past years various people have had access to my Insta... I’m not being funny but I don’t need the money. What would I gain from selling stories on you?” she tweeted.
