Mondelez may be shopping, AstraZeneca makes major deal, Tim Cook may testify

Here are the companies Yahoo Finance is watching today.

The maker of Oreo cookies could soon have some new brands in its lineup. Mondelez (MDLZ) is reportedly in talks to buy some international cookie names from Campbell's Soup, including Tim Tams and Royal Dansk. The price tag is said to be upwards of $2.5 billion dollars.

AstraZeneca (AZN) is striking a big deal for cancer drugs. The pharma giant is paying upwards of $6.9 billion dollars, for the rights to some treatments being developed by Japan's Daiichi Sankyo. The money is contingent on the medications hitting milestones, including clearing regulatory hurdles.

Tim Cook may soon have his day in court. He's just one of the Apple (AAPL) leaders expected to testify next month when a jury hears the evidence in the long-running patent dispute with Qualcomm (QCOM). Apple is challenging Qualcomm's patent licensing deals while the chipmaker is demanding royalty payments it says it's owed.

Wells Fargo's (WFC) Tim Sloan is stepping down as CEO effective immediately. Sloan is resigning after spending 31 years at the bank and having received a raise recently. His tenure began with Wells Fargo's fake accounts scandal and was marked by scrutiny from politicians. General Counsel Allen Parker will take over as interim CEO as the bank looks for a permanent successor.

Our parent company, Verizon (VZ), just launched a free service to help you battle those pesky robocalls. The free version of Call Filter, which was previously $2.99 a month, will give you spam detection, a spam filter and the ability to report numbers. The service is available for both Android and iOS customers. But the company says that "certain features will vary based on the type of phone."
