Basketball has brought joy to millions worldwide, it’s hard to imagine a world in which the sport never existed. Fans, players and analysts alike have Dr. James Naismith to thank for its inception. In 1891, the educator created the 13 original rules for the game during a training session at a YMCA in Springfield, Massachusetts.

To celebrate basketball’s longstanding cultural significance, Boston-based sneaker brand Converse is collaborating with streetwear boutique Concepts on two new shoes that pays homage to Naismith’s achievements.

Dropping Thursday, the “Southern Flame” collection includes the first basketball trainer ever created, the Chuck 70 Original, alongside the brand new All Star BB Evo. Upon first glance, you’ll notice that both designs pay homage to the peach baskets Naismith used as early basketball goals. The Chuck 70 boasts a mostly red colorway while the All Star BB Evo is splashed with hues of green. Keeping in theme with the peach basket nod are fuzzy shoelaces included in both prototypes.
