Coronation Street's Emma to confront Curtis over his lies

Coronation Street spoilers follow.

Coronation Street's Emma Brooker demands answers from Curtis Delamere later this month after realising that he has been lying about taking heart medication.

Emma (Alexandra Mardell) is currently oblivious to the fact that Curtis is lying about having a terminal illness, as revealed to viewers in Wednesday night's double bill (December 1).

In upcoming scenes, a worrying moment involving Tyrone Dobbs's daughter Ruby (Macy Alabi) leads to the truth coming out.

While Emma is babysitting for Tyrone, she's horrified as Ruby swallows one of Curtis's pills.

Fearing that Ruby could become seriously ill, Emma rushes her to A&E.

Emma shows the pills to a doctor, explaining that they belong to Curtis (Sam Retford) and he has a heart condition.

The doctor quickly assures Emma that Ruby will be fine as the pills are only vitamins. Emma is left totally confused over what's going on.

Later, back at home, Emma is still shell-shocked as she explains to Tyrone (Alan Halsall) that Ruby had a false alarm.

Curtis soon appears and an emotional Emma confronts him with the pill box, demanding answers.

When Emma is unable to get anywhere with Curtis, she tries talking to his doctor, who refuses to be drawn due to confidentiality reasons.

Emma then seeks out Curtis's dad Neville (Mark Cameron) to see if he can share any insight.

In the end, Curtis finally admits to Emma that he's not dying and has been feigning illness for some time.

Curtis has a Factitious Disorder, a mental illness whereby people deceive others by pretending to be ill.

Curtis explains that he first started pretending to be ill when his parents were getting divorced. He enjoyed the attention and then found that he was unable to stop.

Emma decides that she can never trust Curtis again, so tells him to pack his bags. However, she's stopped in her tracks when her father Steve (Simon Gregson) – who doesn't know what's going on – sings Curtis's praises.

Steve explains that Curtis has raised £4,000 for Oliver's fund and he wants to thank him. Will Emma have a change of heart?

Coronation Street airs these scenes on Monday, December 13, Tuesday, December 14 and Wednesday, December 15 at 7.30pm on ITV.
