People with weak immune systems could have to isolate themselves at home for months, Scotland’s top doctor has said.

The BBC reports that Catherine Calderwood, the country’s chief medical officer, said they could have to stay away from others for much longer than the two-week isolation period usually being recommended for people who contract the virus.

The corporation’s James Cook tweeted her statement on Thursday afternoon, and reported her as saying that “some people with seriously compromised immune systems may have to stay self-contained in their homes for many months”.
