Increasing numbers are going into self-isolation in the UK amid the coronavirus outbreak.

This has prompted one woman to design a special ‘postcard’ to enable to people to help neighbours stuck indoors.

Becky Wass, from Falmouth in Cornwall, created a template to be printed and distributed so that people can communicate whether they need access to urgent supplies and food shopping, or if they’d just like to have a “friendly phone call”.

Captioning an image of it in a post on Facebook, the freelance copywriter revealed she and her husband came up with the idea to “spread kindness” in communities.

“I’ve been feeling pretty helpless watching the news. Maybe you have too?” Becky wrote.

“I wanted to do something about it, so I’ve made a postcard that I’ll be posting to my older neighbours as this progresses (after washing my hands!).

”If just one person feels less lonely or isolated when faced with this pandemic, then I’ll feel better about it (I hope!)

”Coronavirus is scary. Let’s make kindness go viral. Feel free to share/print/use.”

One person commented: “Wonderful idea. You're obviously lovely caring people. God bless you both.”

Another wrote: “Great idea; simple kindness and consideration towards others is very much needed these days. Well done!”

A third added: “Wonderful Becky! A lovely act of kindness...have shared and will help as much as I can too.”

Speaking to the BBC, Becky explained how she had come up with the inspiring concept.

“Because fear has spread so quickly, its really important to try to spread kindness,” she said.

Referring to the response she had received for the postcards, she noted that it had been "incredibly heartwarming".

She added: “I do think in times like this everybody wants to do something to help, and this postcard just makes that a little bit easier.”
