Yahoo Finance Six coronavirus cases diagnosed at Lanarkshire care home
Six residents at a care home have been diagnosed with coronavirus, health officials have confirmed.
The cases were identified at Highgate Care Home near Uddingston in North Lanarkshire, which has 80 beds and offers nursing and nursing memory care for those living with dementia.
The care home’s management said it put “strict infection control measures” in place after it identified the positive cases of Covid-19, and that staff, residents and their families were being informed.

The news comes as the number of people to lose their lives who had tested positive for coronavirus in the UK hit 35 on Sunday following 14 more deaths in a 24-hour period.
They included 59-year-old Nick Matthews, a former policeman who suffered from underlying health problems.
Highgate’s managing director John Kirk said: “The health, safety and wellbeing of our residents and colleagues is of paramount importance.
“As such, we are committed to doing everything we can to keep them safe.
“We are working closely with all the relevant bodies, including NHS Lanarkshire and Health Protection Scotland, as we implement our comprehensive contingency plan, which includes closing the home to all but absolutely essential visitors, and continuing to take steps to ensure the highest standards of hygiene and infection control.”
Dr John Logan, NHS Lanarkshire consultant in public health medicine, said: “We appreciate this is a very worrying time for many people.
“Highgate Care Home has implemented infection prevention and control measures and the NHS Lanarkshire Health Protection Team will continue to provide advice and support to the care home manager and staff.”
