Cos Bar Takes Over Shen Beauty’s Former Brooklyn Store

Shen Beauty’s Brooklyn location has been snapped up by another beauty retailer: Cos Bar.

Passersby will spot signs posted in the window that Cos Bar will be opening a location at 138 Court Street, in Cobble Hill, Brooklyn, this holiday season, stocking brands including Sisley, Dr. Barbara Sturm and Augustinus Bader.

This is Cos Bar’s first Brooklyn store, and its second in New York City after Brookfield Place in downtown Manhattan, which opened back in 2014.

The luxury beauty retailer, which was founded more than four decades ago, did not immediately respond to requests for comment or to provide an opening date.

Shen Beauty abruptly shuttered its brick-and-mortar door in August. The influential Brooklyn-based independent beauty retailer, founded by Jessica Richards in 2010, was known for its early adoption of the clean beauty movement and carried brands ranging from Westman Atelier and Augustinus Bader to Irene Forte and Vintner’s Daughter.

As previously reported by WWD, Brooklyn is seeing an influx of luxe retailers, beauty brands and services, and fitness and wellness studios, many of whom were at one time very Manhattan-centric.

Recent additions include Sugared & Bronzed in Boerum Hill and Chanel Beauty in Williamsburg, while Silver Mirror Facial Bar is opening soon in Downtown Brooklyn.
