Couple argues over boyfriend being late to dinner: ‘Disrespectful’

A woman is upset with her boyfriend over his punctuality.

She shared what happened on Reddit’s “Am I the A******? (AITA)” forum. Her boyfriend is an electrician and works late. She also works away from home for two weeks each month. They agreed to share when they get off from work to maximize their time together.

When her parents and younger brother were visiting, they planned a dinner. She told her boyfriend to make sure to get off work early that day. But when he texted her that he was working late with no ETA, she “snapped at him” when he showed up at 8 p.m.

“I was disappointed because he’s missed dinner and my brother didn’t get a chance to carve a pumpkin with my bf. We went to bed frustrated and have been arguing all day on and off because it,” she explained.

Redditors weighed in on the situation.

“Keeping people waiting on an appearance, disruption to dinner etc, it’s disrespectful of their time,” a user wrote.

“This was a miscommunication where you both dug your heels in,” another said.

“Stuff out of people’s control happens. Sometimes they can’t give you exact timings because they don’t even know,” someone added.
