A Kentucky couple has been charged with multiple counts of abuse after a pre-teen girl fled to a neighbor’s home alleging she was beaten with a metal pipe and abused in other ways.

According to a criminal complaint obtained by PEOPLE, when police arrived at the residence in Ashland on Jan. 25, the officers “instantly noticed severe burns on both arms and her body [and] a deep laceration over one of her eyes, along with a burn mark on the palm of her hand.”

The girl told officers that she had been beaten with a metal pipe, had her hand placed and burned on a stove and was hit in the head with an object.

The victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment where "doctors indicated several broken bones in various stages of healing," per the complaint.

Austin Frazier 27, and Kayla Frazier, 31, were indicted on Jan. 30 on multiple charges including sexual abuse, criminal abuse, strangulation, wanton endangerment and kidnapping.

Austin Frazier is accused, among other things, of hitting the child in the head with a skillet, fracturing her arm with a metal instrument and locking her in a gun safe, according to the indictment charges obtained by PEOPLE.

Kayla Frazier allegedly dragged the child outside for an extended period of time in extreme temperatures with little clothing, hit her in the head with a cellphone, and forced her hand onto a hot stove, per the indictment.

Kirk Douglas Mounts, 47 was also charged with criminal abuse of a child 12 or under, unlawful imprisonment and failure to report child dependent/neglect.  Also charged is Edward Goins on counts of criminal abuse, kidnapping and failure to report child dependent neglect/abuse. It’s unclear what their alleged roles are in the incident.

Kayla and Austin Frazier have yet to enter a plea. An arraignment is scheduled for Feb. 9. Goins has a hearing scheduled for April 30. The status of Mounts' case is unclear.

PEOPLE was not immediately able to reach attorneys for any of the suspects.
