Yahoo Finance COVID-19: 12 new cases detected in Singapore, all imported
SINGAPORE — The Ministry of Health (MOH) confirmed 12 new COVID-19 cases in Singapore on Sunday (28 March), taking the country's total case count to 60,300.
All new cases are imported and there are no reported cases of locally transmitted COVID-19 infections. "Amongst the new cases today, 10 are asymptomatic, and were detected from our proactive screening and surveillance, while two were symptomatic," said the MOH.
Among the 12 imported cases, one is a Singaporean, and two are permanent residents who returned from India. A 50-year-old male PR who returned from India is one of the two symptomatic cases reported on Sunday.
Another is a dependant's pass holder who arrived from Nepal, while two others are work pass holders who arrived from India and Nepal.
Five cases are work permit holders who arrived from Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, and the Philippines, of whom four are foreign domestic workers.
The remaining case is a short-term visit pass holder who arrived from the US for a work project in Singapore. The 29-year-old man is Sunday's second symptomatic case.
All imported cases were placed on the stay-home notice or isolated upon their arrival here and were tested for COVID-19.
The MOH noted that the number of new cases in the community has increased from none in the week before to two in the past week. The number of unlinked cases in the community has also increased from none in the week before to two in the past week.

99% of total cases have recovered, 1 in ICU
With nine more patients discharged from hospitals or community isolation facilities on Sunday, 60,122 cases – or 99.7 per cent of the total – have fully recovered from the infection.
Most of the 33 hospitalised cases are stable or improving, while one of them is in the intensive care unit.
A total of 115 patients – with mild symptoms or are clinically well but still test positive – are isolated and cared for at community facilities.
Apart from the 30 patients who have died from COVID-19 complications, 15 others who tested positive for the virus were determined to have died from unrelated causes, including three whose deaths were attributed to a heart attack and another four, whose deaths were attributed to coronary heart disease.
Among the 104 confirmed cases reported from 22 March to 28 March, 34 cases have tested positive for their serology tests, 51 have tested negative, and 19 serology test results are pending.
